Moving blankets fall under three categories: generic, textile, and skins.

Let’s compare and contrast these so you know which is the right choice for you.

The generic moving blanket (also referred to as a furniture pad or packing blanket) are perfect for protecting smaller personal property and furnishings like end tables or tvs.

Most of these are 72″ x 80″.

Textile blankets are for heavy items like dressers, entertainment centers, and other large or heavy items that are fragile to being dinged up.

You’ll find that textiles are threaded strongly and very heavy duty to support the weight (so the fabric doesn’t rip apart with 300 lbs of pressure).

Another benefit is these are slideable so you don’t have to lift items like a huge dresser, you can simply slide them.

Be sure to check the weight limit before using a textile blanket though as they vary by strength and size.

Some may even go so far as to be for specific uses.

Moving skins are light weight and as the name indicates are there to protect and wrap your smaller lightweight valuables you don’t want scratched, marked or dented.

Skins should be seen as separators but not as the ultimate insulation.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
